OUR MISSION
To empower underserved communities to engage in research that advances health equity and improves health outcomes
WHY WE EXIST
Key stakeholder groups are now motivated to conduct research in and with providers serving disadvantaged populations. Foundations, Life Science Companies, and other research organizations have the opportunity to engage differently with communities of color – from enrolling into clinical trials and increased representation, to identifying solutions that will enhance medication adherence and persistence. In many cases, these organizations are looking for research partners outside of the traditional academic medical centers to provide insight into the “real world”.
At the same time, there is a governmental commitment to reduce disparities in health and improve equity in communities of color. As a result, the federal government will be incentivizing health plans and health care organizations to engage with communities to tackle health disparities through a variety of avenues, including implementing new values-based reimbursement models.
Lastly, large employers are seeking ways of advancing health equity through digital health and connectivity, data-driven health care, and expanding access.
From our perspective, the time is NOW to get engaged and involved.
HOW WE OPERATE
Health Equity Outcomes seeks to provide the solution by showcasing safety-net provider (e.g. Federally Qualified Health Centers, community health centers, etc.) ROI for Foundations, Life Science Companies, and other research organizations who are actively looking for partners.
We endeavor to do this by identifying safety-net providers interested in engaging in research; providing the tools and training to build the infrastructure needed to support these efforts; and understanding their research interests.
Our efforts will infuse future jobs into the community at large to support ongoing engagement and data collection among the population it serves, and help them to improve their care and better meet patients’ needs.
As networking among trained safety-net providers will be essential – HEO will establish an ongoing research collaborative among these community-based organizations to facilitate sharing best practices and lessons learned. Ultimately, processes will be developed to further remove obstacles for researchers to collaborate.
