Kristi Mitchell, MPH
Kristi is a co-founder and Principal at ATLAS CLARITY LLC and Health Equity Outcomes (HEO). Kristi is a health services researcher who leads efforts to enable next generation health care delivery through innovation, value, and consumer engagement across multiple industries. This includes pharmaceutical/device companies, digital health, government agencies, and community-based organizations.
Kristi successfully led the Center for Healthcare Transformation as Practice Director at Avalere Health, a DC-based advisory services firm. After eleven years, Kristi left Avalere Health to pursue her passion and launch Health Equity Outcomes (HEO), a 501C3 designed to empower underserved and underrepresented communities to engage in the research enterprise – reducing racial disparities and advancing health equity.
Prior to her work at Avalere, she worked at the American College of Cardiology for 12 years, most recently as the Chief Science Officer. In her role as Senior Director, Research and Development, Kristi provided scientific and technical oversight to the development of the suite of NCDR Registry and Quality Improvement Programs and led the integration of clinical practice guideline development, performance measurement, dataset development, and educational activities within the College.
A graduate of Brown University with an A.B. in human biology and public policy, Kristi earned her MPH in Epidemiology and Public Health Policy & Administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. The robust development, dissemination, and translation of valid, reliable evidence sets the foundation for all the work that Kristi pursues as she seeks to transform how health care is delivered and patient outcomes improved.
Kristi has presented nationally and internationally. She has published peer reviewed literature over the past 25 years across a myriad of topics and is recognized nationally as an expert in the design and implementation of patient powered data collection efforts. Currently she serves as chair of the National Kidney Foundation CKD Net Registry Data Use and Publication Committee and she is a member of the following organizations: the FDA-sponsored Medical Device Epidemiology Network (MDEpiNet), the DC Collaboration for Equitable Health Engagement Council, Women’s Business Leaders in Healthcare, and she is a Founding Member of CHIEF-DC, a private network to support and connect women executives.
